What's going on guys?

Pace Won: What's going on?

So what have you been up to since the Hip Hop world last heard from you?

Pace Won: I've been in the hood. I've been creating masterful Hip Hop with Mr. Green and I've been doing some myspace features and a lot of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

You and Mr. Green are putting out an album together called The Only Color That Matters Is Green, how did you two connect?

Pace Won: Mr. Green and I connected through a mutual friend whose name is Kosha Dillz. Kosha Dillz was doing an EP through my myspace page. Kosha wanted to do a song with me and I was like cool. Mr. Green made the beat and I liked it. So a few months later I hit Green up, or he hit me up. I forget who contacted who. We just came to an understanding that we were going to do an EP and since then we went on to make an LP.

Mr. Green: We started out like we were only going to do six songs. As we kept doing them they kept getting better and better, so we decided to double it and do twelve or more.

Pace Won: And a loooooot of drugs! [Laughs] No cocaine or heroin.

When did you two decide it was a good idea to do an album together? Did you work on anything first or it was a full album from the start?

Mr. Green: It was December 31st, 2006. Pace was like, "Yo! We are doing the album". That's when it officially happened. You know we've talked about it before, but I remember that night. I was like, "Alright. I'm doing an album with Pace Won next year" [laughs].

What can you tell us about the album and what label will it be released on?

Pace Won: it will be released on an independent label out in California called Raw Poetix.

Will there be any guests?

Pace Won: Yes. We got my man and mutual friend called Kosha Dillz on it. We have another friend of ours Cymarshall Law, a really good and upcoming rapper from New Jersey out there in New Gunswick. We also have a singer from Sweden. She's amazing, she blows the roof off the song she's on.

Do you guys hit the studio and work on songs from scratch, or does Pace choose from a selection of beats you've already created?

Pace Won: Mr. Green gives me a CD and I pick the beats that I like and I write to them. Then we hook up and record them.

Mr. Green: I would say maybe half of the beats on the album we had before we started working on the album and we picked the best beats. Then a few of them I made after I was working with Pace and I could kind of tell which beats he worked the best on. I started making beats for that. You can definitely tell on a couple of them.

Will the singles Hip Hop, Children Sing and The Eye of a Needle all be on it?

Pace Won: Yes

What are your production credits to this point? You produced "Childhood" for C-Rayz Walz and Matisyahu, correct?

Mr. Green: Yeah I did that. I did a song with Rob Kelly out in Ireland called "Dropkicked". It's a sample we got off the movie departed. It's got Slaine on it from La Coka Nostra who's on movie star status right now, cause he was in Ben Affleck's movie called Gone Baby Gone with Morgan Freeman. They heard the song and were like, "that's cool, I don't care if you guys sample it". So we made a video for it and it's going to be all over the place. That's going to be in the next couple of months. Mainly the C-rayz Walz song and then what I've done with Pace Won. Those are my two most prized things.

Was it intimidating stepping right in with an established artist like Pace Won?

Mr. Green: Yeah at first. Man I listened to him when I was just a kid. I used to listen to him on the radio station now they are playing our songs together. I was nervous, but over time we've became friends and now it's just another day at the work place.

You're also a DJ and getting into musical scoring?

Mr. Green: Yeah. That's the goal. There are a lot of problems with sampling because you get sued for it and people say you're a biter. There's always going to be a problem with sampling. Rza kinda like uses the same part of his brain he would use to make beats with samples, and then he picks the music for Quentin Tarintino movies or Blade III. I just think that some awesome stuff to have. I look to hopefully get into that. Not to say I'm on Rza's level but that sounds like the route for me, you know?

What's your Green Future project?

Mr. Green: I put that out June 15th of 2007. I was actually going on a Warped tour with my friend and partner Cymarshall Law. I didn't have a CD so I kind of had to take like the best songs I made that year. It came out good, I was real proud of that fact. But it was basically something to take with me on tour cause I didn't have anything.

Are the Outsidaz still together and will you ever release anything as a group?

Pace Won: We'll the Outsidaz, we are all spread apart. We're still friends and maybe if we can get a nice budget in the future we'll do a project together.

You've proven you can make songs like "The Rah Rah" which appeal to serious and casual Hip Hop fans, so do you think you're capable of taking your music to the masses?

Pace Won: Yes I do. I think the masses might be ready for my version of hip hop. Mr. Green's beats are very tight and you're going to like them. I've been writing and I hope it entertains everyone.

You were upset that Eminem turned his back on you guys after he blew up. Has there been any progress or developments or are you still out of contact?

Pace Won: We are still out of contact. I'm still giving it to him, I'm still dissing him. I got a new diss joint on the album.

Oh yeah? What's it called?

Pace Won: The Joker.

Do you guys have any tour plans?

Mr. Green: Definitely. We are going to Canada the end of this month, just one little date in Ontario. Then in the spring we are heading out with Snowgoons. I'm not sure of the date but Snowgoons out in Europe are very well traveled. So we are going to link up with them and try to do like 15 days hopefully.

What can you tell us about the New Jersey Hip Hop scene?

Mr. Green: There are a lot of good artist. Where I live there's no place to have the shows. A lot of people want to be somewhere but there's nowhere to send them. But it's very strong, it's very strong. I could name like a half dozen MC's that live within fifteen minutes of me.

What's the main difference when you were first coming up? Were there more outlets?

Mr. Green: I think the Internet is the biggest outlet. There's always been open mics, there always been New York City which is only like an hour from me or twenty minutes for Pace. The Internet just brings everyone so much closer. I can talk to anyone on the globe, as long as they have an Internet connection there. It's like having them right there in the room with me. You can build and get stuff done. It's amazing.

What do you guys have planned for 2008 after this project drops?

Pace Won: Just keep with the evolution of Hip Hop. Green and I are probably going to do a remix album to the joints we are doing now. Probably get some live musicians. I'm going to do a myspace feature album. I've been doing a lot of joints with people on myspace so I'm going to try and do an album where I present everybody that I worked with. After that we're on the new Pace Won and Mr. Green.

Anything else you want to say?

Pacewon: I'd like to shout out everybody in the Brick City, USA, I'd like to shout out Mt. Prospect Ave., Balentine Parkway, Redman, Rah Digga, Young Zee, Tame One, El Da Sensai, Lords Of The Underground, DJ Lord Jazz, Funky Child. I'd like to shout out everyone who's supporting myself and Mr. Green. Team One Incorporated, Dj Muhammad, Confucius, G smoke and the whole world.

Mr. Green: I got to shout out Cymarshall Law, Silent Knight, all the people in my area who are doing the real Hip Hop I can appreciate. Radio Ruckus and A.B. everybody needs to check this video we just shot its called "Hip Hop" by Phil Sedehi. It's about to be real crazy.

Dope! When can we expect to get a glimpse of that?

Mr. Green: Hopefully it will be done by the time the interview is up. It'll be on youtube, MTV Europe, everywhere you can find it.
